Eleanor Polatch is an artist and writer based in Glasgow.

Eleanor Polatch is a writer and painter based in Glasgow, Scotland. She is a member of the artists’ studios Unit 42 (Hidden Lane, 1103 Argyle St, Finnieston, Glasgow, G3 8ND).

As an artist her process has always been closely intertwined with a writing practice, creating stories and developing imaginary worlds alongside painting and drawing. A lot of her work explores lived female experiences, and delves into the artists’ internal narrative - leftover teenage angst, hopeless romantiscm, and obsessional tendancies.

Working primarily in oil paint, the fabrication of imaginary scenes is anchored in observation of life.
Heavy inspiration is taken from impressionist and post-impressionist movements, whilst the subject matter is grounded in modern life, engaging with pop culture and the digital age. and explores the conflict beween every day realities and the desire to escape into dissociative fantasy.
